My name is Yves and I’ve been drumming since I was about 12 years old.
Playing the drums have been one of my passions. In the beginning I was inspired by many drummers I heard…. like Nicko MacBrain of Iron Maiden, Lars Ulrich of Metallica and the late Randy Castillo who was Ozzy’s drummer for many years.
Then I listened to the music of Rush non-stop for many,many months… Neil Peart has been a huge influence.
Those were among some of my first big influences.
I still listen to those recordings today as well as a ton of other stuff.
Today some of my favorite players include Mike Mangini, Keith Carlock, Martin Valihora, Virgil Donati…. as well as many more.
I love music…. from metal to jazz, latin to hip-hop grooves and funk….
Whether I’m playing live, teaching or just sitting behind a kit practicing it’s one of my favorite places to be.
